These terms apply when you use Import Bureau to apply for an EORI number or another importer number. By starting an application, you agree to them.

1. Who we are

Import Bureau is a private company. We are not a government agency and we are not affiliated with HM Revenue & Customs, the European Commission, Dutch Customs, US Customs and Border Protection, the Canada Revenue Agency, New Zealand Customs, the Australian Taxation Office or any other authority.

2. What we do

We prepare your application, file it with the relevant authority, answer the questions the authority raises, and check the number once it is issued.

The authority decides whether to issue a number and how long that takes. We can't guarantee that a number will be issued, or that it will be issued by a particular date.

Most authorities let you apply directly, and many charge nothing to do so. You can apply yourself instead of using us. Each country page links to the official route.

3. Who can use the service

The service is for businesses only. By applying, you confirm that:

  • you are applying on behalf of a business, not as a consumer;
  • you are authorised to act for that business;
  • you authorise us to prepare and submit the application for it.

4. What you need to give us

You must give us accurate, complete and current information and documents, including your certificate of incorporation. Tell us straight away if anything changes while your application is in progress.

If the authority rejects or delays an application because of information you gave us, that is outside our control.

5. Fees and payment

  • The price for each country is shown before you apply.
  • Any government fee is shown separately. For most countries there is none.
  • You pay only once the number has been issued. We send you a secure payment link at that point.
  • The issued number is held in your account and released to you once payment clears.
  • If the authority does not issue a number, you pay nothing.

Prices include or exclude VAT as shown on the country page.

6. Our responsibility to you

We will carry out the service with reasonable care and skill.

If a number we hand over is wrong because of a mistake we made, we will correct it at no cost.

We are not responsible for:

  • decisions made by customs or tax authorities;
  • shipping delays, storage charges, duties or taxes;
  • losses that come from information you gave us being wrong or incomplete;
  • loss of profit, loss of business or any indirect loss.

Our total liability to you for any application is limited to the fee you paid for it.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.

7. Your data

We use your information to provide the service and share it with the authority you are applying to. Our privacy notice explains how.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version on this page applies to applications started after the date above.

9. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
