Get an EORI number for France
French businesses get their EORI number, the numéro EORI, from French Customs through its SOPRANO online service. If your company is outside the EU, you don't need a French number: an EORI number from any EU country works in France. We file yours in the Netherlands.
Who issues EORI numbers in France
French Customs (the DGDDI) issues them free through SOPRANO on douane.gouv.fr. A French number is FR followed by the company's SIREN number, or its SIRET number for a single establishment. It becomes active 24 hours after it's issued.
If your company is outside the EU
French Customs accepts applications from companies outside the EU through the same SOPRANO service, as long as France is where the first customs operation will take place. If your company has no French VAT number, which is usual outside the EU, you'll need an extract from your company register and a document showing that France is that first country.
If your first EU shipment goes through another country, that country issues the number instead, and you use it in France too.
How we get yours
We prepare your application and file it with Dutch Customs, which issues an EU EORI number valid in France and every other EU country. You don't need a French or EU company, and you pay only once the number is issued.
