Get an EORI number for Greece
Greek businesses get their EORI number from AADE, Greece's tax and customs authority. If your company is outside the EU, a number from any EU country works in Greece, so the right country to register in depends on where your goods are first cleared. Apply for a Greek number here, and we'll check it's the right one for your shipments before we file.
Who issues EORI numbers in Greece
AADE, the Independent Authority for Public Revenue, through its customs offices. Any customs office in Greece can issue one.
Businesses apply with an application form. Where the customs office has joined AADE's online service, the form goes through the "My Requests" app on myAADE. Otherwise it goes to the customs office by email.
Greek EORI numbers start with GR, not EL
Greece uses EL on VAT numbers but GR on EORI numbers. A Greek business's EORI number is GR followed by its Greek tax number (AFM).
A company from outside the EU gets a different format: GR, then its own country code, then a code generated by the Greek customs system.
If your company is outside the EU
A company outside the EU registers with the customs office where it first lodges a customs declaration in Greece. It needs an official document from a chamber of commerce, or a similar body, in its home country, issued in the last 6 months.
If your first EU shipment goes through another country, that country issues the number instead, and you use it in Greece too.
How applying with us works
Start an application for Greece. Before the form, we ask three quick questions: where your company is based, whether you already have an EU EORI number, and where your goods will first be cleared.
If Greece fits, we prepare your application for the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE). If another EU country fits better, for example because your goods are first cleared in the Netherlands, we explain why before anything is filed, and nothing changes without your OK.
You pay only once the number is issued.
