Get an EORI number for Sweden

Swedish businesses get their EORI number, the Eori-nummer, from Swedish Customs. If your company is outside the EU, a number from any EU country works in Sweden, so the right country to register in depends on where your goods are first cleared. Apply for a Swedish number here, and we'll check it's the right one for your shipments before we file.

One EU EORI number covers all 27 countries

Who issues EORI numbers in Sweden

Swedish Customs (Tullverket) issues them free, through an online application form. Swedish businesses sign in with an electronic ID such as BankID.

Swedish Customs says most applications are processed within an hour, and the rest within a week.

What a Swedish EORI number looks like

SE followed by 10 digits. For a Swedish company, the digits are usually its organisation number. Numbers issued to companies from outside the EU begin SE444 or SE502, depending on whether the company is registered for Swedish VAT.

If your company is outside the EU

A company outside the EU applies in the EU country where its first customs activity takes place. If that's Sweden, it applies to Swedish Customs with its company registration certificate and documents showing the first activity is in Sweden, such as transport documents or invoices.

It can't apply in Sweden if it already has, or has applied for, an EORI number in another EU country.

Swedish Customs also points out that a company established outside the EU can't be the declarant on a customs declaration. Someone established in the EU, such as a customs agent, makes the declaration for it.

How applying with us works

Start an application for Sweden. Before the form, we ask three quick questions: where your company is based, whether you already have an EU EORI number, and where your goods will first be cleared.

If Sweden fits, we prepare your application for Swedish Customs (Tullverket). If another EU country fits better, for example because your goods are first cleared in the Netherlands, we explain why before anything is filed, and nothing changes without your OK.

You pay only once the number is issued.
