Questions people ask

We file within one working day of your application reaching us, and HMRC normally takes two to four working days after that. Most customers have their number inside the week. If a shipment is already inbound, tell us and we will move it up.
Your company's details as they appear on the certificate of incorporation, one named applicant, and an email and mobile number - not on HMRC's own form, we just need somewhere to send the number - and a copy of your certificate of incorporation.
HMRC's own fee is £0 - a GB EORI costs nothing to apply for directly. Our fee covers preparing and filing your application, handling any queries HMRC raises, verifying the number before we hand it over, and a short call afterwards to talk you through using it.
No. HMRC issues GB EORI numbers to businesses established anywhere - you apply using your existing company's registration details instead of a UK entity or address.
Usually, it’s because a detail doesn’t match your certificate of incorporation. We check the form against your certificate before filing and verify the number HMRC issues against its own register before handing it over.
An EORI number lets your carrier file the declaration - it is not the only thing importing involves. Depending on what you are shipping, you may also need a commodity code for the goods, an import licence if they are controlled or restricted, and a VAT registration if you want to reclaim the VAT you pay at the border. Your freight forwarder can tell you which of these apply to your shipment.
